Anderson Architects' chill-out tent on the rooftop above their studio, which was open to the public at Open House New York last year.
The manicured garden crowning the British Empire Building, part of Rockefeller Center, was also open to the public during Open House weekend last year.
JWilly on Flickr has documented "Rich People's Rooftops in NYC" that start looking quite toylike from this distance.
And this is my absolute favourite: a traditional porch and meadow garden atop a six-storey building in the West Village, courtesy of a wonderful article in the New York Times.

Fabulous. There is so much dead space that can be greened and brought to life. Great inspiration here. thanks.
